According to income tax rules Residential Status is computed separately for each financial year, that means 1 April-31 March.
An Indian citizen who resides outside India and who comes on a visit to India is considered only a resident if they reside in India for 182 days or more.
So, if one came to India on Oct 25,2020 and stays beyond April 24, 2021, they would not be a resident given that the previous financial year ended on March 31, 2020 and the new financial year began on April 1, 2021?
Applying the same, the maximum duration the visiting person can stay in India without being a resident is upto Sept. 30, 2021 (6 months from 1 April 2021)?
